just pay the fine cuz u ain't getting off on it unless u can somehow prove that u weren't speeding to a cynical & rude traffic courts judge who's heard a million & a half excuses from 2 million other people who somehow thought they could beat the wrap by preparing some kinda Law & Order type defense... basically it's ur word against the cop's... who do u think the judge is gonna believe?
best thing to do is to take 1 of those 1 day defensive driving courses to get some points taken back off ur record & u get the insurance discount & go out & buy urself a radar detector.
I got screwed over by the police and court system here with my recent ticket. I agree with above that you won't get any pity from the court. I would see if you can do an online traffic school.
A very useful tip I got from an ahjushi. Goto court, plead guilty, but ask for second offenders traffic school. I'd never heard about this lil gem before either, but give it a shot. I used it last year when I got my 2nd speeding ticket of the year flying down the freeway. I was pissed cause I had just served my traffic school a couple months before, and then the ahjushi told me to give it a try.
I don't know about where you live, but the courts here are waaay overcrowded, so when you plead guilty, the judge kinda favors your request. Here's what happened:
Judge: Innocent, Guilty, or no contest?
Me: If I plead guilty can I have second offenders traffic school?
Judge: Only if you plead guilty and pay fines.
Me: Word.
In all I was out 300 bucks in speeding fines and traffic school.
don't go to a lawyer. he'll charge more than the ticket will be. plus no non-sleazy lawyer will take a speeding ticket case.
well, I don't know exactly how it works in your state but...
NO NO NO. Don't ever sign the back and pay for the ticket right away. You're basically admitting that you did speed and points will be added to your record, which will result in a spike in your insurance premium cost.
This is what you do:
Even though you are (supposedly) guilty of speeding, plead not guilty and set up a court date (through phone or letter) to contest the ticket. Two things can happen on the date of your trial:
1) The cop (or his representative) doesn't show up, you plead not guilty when it's your turn to show up, they have no evidence of you speeding, and they let you go without paying the fine. This is what you *hope* for.
2) The cop (or his representative) DO show up, but a lot of times, they will try to give you a plea bargain. In this case, since you were over by only 13mph, it's probably just 2 points on your record and X amount of dollars. So they'll tell you, just admit your guilt, pay the fine, and we'll wipe off the points. Accept it, pay the fine (which is what you were going to do anyway) and voila, you get off without getting points on your record.
my friend says that the best bet, if you're willing to take a day off, is to go to court. best thing that can happen is the cop doesnt show up and/or the ticket is so smeared (since its a copy) that they'll dismiss it. Most of the time they'll give you a deal like paying half the fine (but i guess that still doesnt resolve the issue of it showing up on your records). good luck!
where's the one where you're a dude? you'd make a FINE sista, btw.
the lawyer would only enable you to bargain it down (extra fine, no points). Ultimately though, it'll still appear on your record. I broke out my PBA in the middle of getting a ticket and he told me that he'd "lose the paperwork" once we got to court. I'm still not sure if it's on my record though as an appealed ticket.
Afro queen looks flip.
i'm telling u, trying to fight it does no good whatsoever... all ur gonna end up doing is taking a day off from work, going through the hassle of going to the DMV & waiting on that long ass line, & still pay the fine in the end... if the cop doesn't show up the judge can reschedule the trail, which means yet another day of missed work & going through the whole process yet again... but do whatever u want... if u think u got some DNA evidence of you not speeding that day, go for it... chances are ur gonna lose & waste time & money in the process... the points can easily be taken off ur record by taking that stupid 5 hour course where u watch drunken driving videos & after u get 10% off your insurance.
I got busted doing 86 in a 70. He reduced it to 80. It was my birthday. Bastard. I called to see if I could do traffic school (and if they had online ones). Do that first before shelling out money for a ticketbuster attorney. They prolly get the same result. "non-moving violation" and no points.
hmm... i dunno what's up with these guys and the afro queen look, but i say if it ain't broke [point being "it's" not], don't fuck with fix it
dunno about the ticket... my first instinct would be to pay... but after reading some of the comments [if i had a load of free time] i might try one of the suggestions just for yuks
oh i forget you're not in california.
but in california...if you didn't go to traffic school for the first one...then you can take traffic school for this one.
hmm... that was supposed to strikethrough "fuck with"... but i'm sure you get the point
damn, seems as the though the process is pretty difficult there in the states. totally coincidental but i went to traffic court today to fight a ticket i got nearly 9 months ago. it was for failure to show ownership/license/insurance and i showed up to court 20 minutes late (damn fuckin old dude stole my parking spot and a minor altercation ensued), without the right insurance (i brought my current one by accident) and without my ownership (i couldn't find it, also part of the reason why i was late) and i got my charge reduced to $35 bucks. had i brought all my shit, i wouldn't have had to pay anything.
and for speeding tickets, they'd take off any points you would've lost and reduced the fine to practically nothing.
im sure this entire spiel just wasted several seconds off your lifespan but yah, thought that was pretty coincidental you'd write a post like this.
afroqueen you is kinda cute in a weird kinda way.
Your too funny !!but I would stick with the original you =)
LOL on the pics.
Dude, the ape you disturbs me, and the drunk version kinda reminds me of a tranny. I'd hit the other versions tho, except maybe the baby...yeah, it's a no go with the baby.
BTW, trust me, look into that second offender traffic school, it's twice as long (16 hours) but well worth not getting the points on the record.
hm I got a speeding ticket recently and I just sucked it up and paid the fine, plus I'm going to traffic school so that my insurance doesn't go up. Yeah- they really screw you with all kinds of fines. All that and you have to waste a whole day going to fucking traffic school.
Hotness.
lol
ugh, i hate them! i got two within the last year! not sure how it works in washington, but in NC: it's a HUGE conspiracy. everyone's in on it. hire a lawyer for $250 and no points, no insurance rise.
i agree with sorjai. those pictures..ahh!
Yum.
Hah, I got another ticket this past January. Freaking 6-pointer!! Ah, wanted to die. Apparently was going 20 over, but I was LATE for my first day of school. Crappers..
Just do some internet research on a deferral. The basic details should come right up. Hiring a lawyer is not worth it for a simple speeding ticket like this since you would be just as good at asking the judge for a deferral as they would be. You weren't doing blow when you got pulled over, right?
Wow. I didn't think anyone was pulled over unless they were doing at least 70 (in a 55).
hmm. your photoshop skills need a bit more work.
Freaky.
