Q.. he checks.. she bets again.. i put her on AK at this point.. i don't know why.. but i call.. and he calls. (an even bigger wtf..) so i figure HE is slowing playing his K something. river comes.. 7. he bets now.. so duh.. he has a K.. no?? she calls.. one of them has the fullhouse.. i muck my hand.. yes....... i did........... 2 K's and 2 7's.. how can i call with two people in it???????????? i muck it face up.. yeah.. i wanted to show how painful that was.. she flips over her cards.. ouch.
live
i mean, isn't it funny how i totally called this last night.
how do you fold there?? the final river bet was only $40, right? you folded a $40 bet to a pot of $500 ($240 + $60 + $120 + 80). you didn't feel pot-committed? I would call that river bet with any pair at that point...maybe even A-high. Ok, maybe not A-high.
Can't get reward without risk.
i agree with kwabert. if it was to you, and you were the last to call on the river, i'd have paid the 40 to know how badly i lost. the issue is that you were pot-committed, and i know you were probably doubting yourself severely and wondering why you even stayed in to the river, which was your rationale for not wanting to add the extra 40 dollars to your losses. but that's the point where it's more cost-effective to stay the course than to just bail.
i also agree with her play. pocket sixes were obviously dead with a pair of kings and a seven on the board - if either of you were holding a K or 7, she was dead to rights, and most pocket pairs would be higher than sixes. but since you guys had capped pre-flop, everyone was effectively announcing they all had big guns under, and she was looking to see if she couldn't scare some of the weaker hands out. she semi-failed at her gambit, but she stayed in to the end because she was pot-committed. you should take this lesson away from this bad beat - she almost took down the pot with what was essentially a dead hand on the flop with her gambit.
tough loss, miss. you'll get'em next time. i haven't heard from your sister, btw.
=( I'm sure she's uglier than you so you win in the end!
That sucks.
LOL... franksabunch is right... it's the little victories that mean the most.
after a few of yrs of playing, you'll see everything and think nothing of it. happy holidays
you shouldn't of called after the flop (you have to think with the preflop raises someone has a monster pair AA (you had) or (KK) or maybe (AK)if thats the case they have you whomped KKKK or KKK...or if you were going to play you needed to raise and not just call.
If you raised it would have probably knocked one if not both of them out. Cuz they are thinking you probably have the K...
always easier to think it out after the fact though...
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays
you can't fold. you're way too pot committed. even though the board looks scary at the river, unless it's raised and reraised, you must showdown. especially when it's only for one bet.
also, i don't see why you just called on the flop. it seems like you're playing scared. AA is still a great hand against that flop and one bettor. this should have been an automatic raise.
gawd i hate limit. in terms of limit, you were pot committed to call the last bet. that's the beauty/distaste of pot limit, 3 to 1 for your money.
what. the. fuck?
i would've done the same. i'm speechless at those other two.
